This puts into words my vague uneasy feelings as I look out a train window when I travel out of London: soulless new residential towers which are somehow worse than the monstrosities of the 60s and 70s despite looking more colourful and ‘modern’.

The lifestyle that our central planners have mapped out for their exchangeable worker unit occupants jumps out at you as you take them in, and it isn't a pleasant realisation.

And, of course, they are only ever available to rent...

It’s ok to point to “diversity” or “yookayfication” as what ails Britain but I rarely hear from right-leaning writers about how secularization did a number on the country. Hard to get godless autonomy-seeking people to live orderly lives

You capture these somewhere and nowhere places in all their grotty banality. Very dispiriting, but a necessary corrective to the Hackney/ Brixton image.
